Scenic Art

I have a varied range of scenic art experience, starting at age 14 at my local amateur theatre group. I painted for many of their shows and my own projects up until coming to university where I studied Scenic Art. I enhanced my skills during my teaching and completed two show roles in my time there. Since then I have mainly used my scenic art skills on my puppets and for creating signs etc. for events but hope to do more theatrical art work.

Twerton Mural

Scenic Artist

As Part of the Festival 'Twert Lush' (2023) Bath Carnival provided a mural for the community of Twerton, Bath. Designed by Carnival artist Katy Hoste, the mural portrayed British flowers and insects. I helped to paint the lettering on it ready for the community to add their own touches to the final  piece.

This show was the adaptation of Mark Ravenhill's book Shoot/Get Treasure/Repeat . It looks at the impact on war in modern society. The show had an abstract feel and a bold and striking design.

I really enjoyed my role as head of scenic art and working with such a bright pallette. It was so different from any of my previous work.

Flower festival

Scenic Artist

In 2019 I designed and painted the backdrop and boat for a flower festival. I used washes to build up the weathered effect on the boat.

Fame

Scenic Artist

In 2017 I painted two graffiti panels for the show 'Fame' which was put on by Saffron Walden Musical Theatre Company. This put my lettering skills to the test and was a great challenge.
